Dedication of new Music Wing - Litany read on June 3. 2007
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Reading from the Psalmist:
How good it is to sing praises to our God;
for God is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting.
Yahweh builds up Jerusalem;
God gathers the outcasts of Israel
God heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
Sing to Yahweh with thanksgiving;
make melody to our God on the lyre.
Loving God, who gives us voices to sing in praise of your name: we dedicate these rooms to the development of the gifts of music, which you have – through the Holy Spirit – poured out so richly upon this congregation.
Inspire us as we sing and play, chant and pray
– choir and congregation and ensembles alike
– that, in our worship, we may join that heavenly choir
who forever gather around your heavenly throne
to sing, "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts."
Let us pray. O Holy One, you who sang the universe into being: bless these rooms and all who gather in them to offer their gifts of music to your glory. May these spaces be a source of inspiration to all who sing and play in them, so that you might be honored in all things and given the praise that is your due; through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray.
Amen.
