Purpose:
Manage the Nashville Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program of the Presbyterian Church (USA), known as Nashville Epiphany Project (NEP). Headquartered at Second Presbyterian Church, NEP provides opportunities for volunteers to experience the church's mission through mutually transformative relationships and to model Christ's service to others through work with congregations and partner agencies focusing on faith and social justice.

Hours:
On average, 20 hours per week Remuneration: $20,000 per year Start Date: 1 August 2012
Essential Functions:
Identify, select, and launch candidates
- Conduct interviews with potential candidates
- Determine housing, agency placement, and church partner for each YAV
- Develop and facilitate week long site orientation
Nurture and challenge the Young Adult Volunteers
- Plan weekly meetings for discernment and spiritual and professional growth
- Meet monthly with individual YAVs
- Coordinate two annual retreats with vocational discernment partner
Promote and develop support for the program
- Present reports annually to the Presbytery, Second Presbyterian session, and College and Young Adult Ministry unit
- Visit and promote program at local colleges and universities
- Attend semi-annual national meetings of Young Adult Volunteer Program and participate on task force teams
- Develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies and partner churches
Administer the financial and programmatic components of the program
- Prepare and manage budget
- Provide monthly reports to Coordinating Team
- Obtain available grants from National Volunteer Office of the PCUSA, and explore and pursue other funding possibilities
- Evaluate overall program at the end of each program year
- Maintain history of program and participant contact information
Minimum Qualifications:
- Commitment to Jesus Christ and the mission of Second Presbyterian Church
- Personal theological maturity, competency and appreciation for theological differences
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice issues
- Earned Bachelor's degree
- Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal, group facilitation and conflict resolution skills
- Capacity to serve as advocate for program in congregations and the wider community, and to shepherd efforts to financially support program
